FRIENDS OF ROBBINS FARM PARK EVENTS CALENDAR 


Flags & Flowers Art Day — Saturday, June 1st, 1-3 pm – 

Come join us at Robbins Farm Park to make artwork to decorate our Playground’s construction fence. We’ll be making pennant flags and painting flowers on 12” discs. Artist and teacher Kathy Lobo and other adult volunteers will be supervising the art making. All the artwork produced will be used to decorate the construction fence around the playground, currently under construction. This is an all ages event. All are invited and it’s free to attend. We’ll be using acrylic paint and permanent markers, so only wear clothes (and shoes) that you don’t mind getting stained. We will have a few smocks available and feel free to bring your own. We’re going to have a lot of fun making art celebrating the wonderful new Playground to come! The activities will be up the hill at the Robbins History Project (the Dog and the House)

Classical Concert (Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra) ———— Saturday, June 8th, 5:00 pm  – New Time!

Join us for a free classical music concert with performers from the Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra with members from Arlington and surrounding communities.  The concert is FREE and features music by a variety of composers. This is a great event for all ages. We encourage people to bring their own picnic dinner. Please note the new 5 pm time for the concert.

Independence Day Concert and Picnic —  With The BIG SCREEN! Thursday, July 4th, 6 pm

This year we are thrilled to bring back the FULL EVENT, our Live Band PLUS our BIG SCREEN Presentation! The event is free and open to all.  Our Independence Day Celebration starts at 6:00 pm, our favorite Oldies Band, The Reminisants will entertain us once again! Bring a blanket and a picnic dinner for our traditional FREE Concert and be prepared to DANCE! It’s as American as Apple Pie (and Pizza Pie), so of course we’ll have some for sale along with drinks. Get your seats on the hill. After the music we’ll be showing the BOSTON POPS ESPLANADE CONCERT and BOSTON FIREWORKS broadcast Live on the BIG SCREEN.



CANCELLED – Jazz Concert — Wednesday, July 24th, 6:30 pm – Harvard Alumni Jazz Band

WE ARE SORRY TO ANNOUNCE THAT DUE TO THE RAINY FORECAST WE ARE CANCELLING THE CONCERT. BUT WE ARE RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, AUGUST 22ND

Join us for a free jazz concert by the Harvard Alumni Jazz Band, a 17-piece jazz big band with members from Arlington and surrounding communities. Our concert will be at our usual venue in the Park. Enjoy the music of Count Basie, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, and many others! The concert is FREE thanks to the generosity of the band, which includes neighborhood resident Allen Feinstein. This is a great event for all ages. We encourage people to bring your own picnic dinner. This will be our 15th Annual Jazz Concert!



Rockin’ Robbins Concert — Saturday, August 3rd, 6:00 pm, Tino D’Agostino & Spajazzy

We are excited to announce our Rockin’ Robbins event will feature Arlington’s very own Tino D’Agostino. Many of you know Tino as the director of Arlington High School Orchestra, Band, Honors Orchestra and Jazz Band. Appearing at Rockin’ Robbins with one of his ensembles, Spajazzy. They will be playing a range of musical genres with rockin’ roll in the mix, all sure to delight. This all ages concert is FREE to all. Joining Tino are pianist and vocalist Steve Heck, a professor at Berklee College of Music; French horn player and vocalist Kristi Scaccia, Arlington Public School Performing Arts Brass specialist; and on drums and percussion will be Steve Rose, a Boston musician and educator. This quartet will perform music for all ages: jazz, rock, pop, classical and more. We promise you will be entertained from the first minute to the very end of this much anticipated performance!


Movie Night ———— Saturday, September 7th, 6:30 pm 

Join us for Robbins Farm Movie Night Sat, Sept 7, featuring a Movie (TO BE DETERMINED). We will sell pizza, popcorn and drinks starting at 6:30 pm; the movie will start at 7:30 and end at 9:20 pm. Bring a picnic blanket, chairs, and settle in to enjoy the entertainment.






Arlington Town Day —— Saturday, September 21st, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Fall Cleanup Day —— Saturday, November 2nd, 9 am to 12 pm

Our last event of the season at Robbins Farm Park is our fall cleanup, where we prepare the park for winter by raking, pruning, weeding invasives and planting bulbs.
Please note that AHS volunteers can earn community service hours for this event.  Hope to see you there!

ARLINGTON STRING FEST 2024 at Robbins Farm Park —— Saturday, June 15 , 10 am – 11:30 am

A Unique Musical Event Right before Arlington Porchfest. This will be the 3rd annual String Fest, featuring string players from Arlington Public Schools String Players, Grades 3-12 The field at the Park will be filled with an amazing flash mob of music led by APS Performing Arts Director Jing-Huey Wei. What Should AUDIENCE MEMBERS Bring? Blankets/Folding Chairs To Sit On Bring Family and Friends Young Children To Explore Our “Instrument Petting Zoo”Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Hat/Baseball Cap, etc.

Arlington Astronomy Nights ’24 at Robbins Farm Park — Hosted by Jeff Alexander

See full details at Astronomy Nights ’24. Jeff Alexander has been organizing Astronomy Nights at Robbins Farm Park for many years. These are typically on Saturday evenings.  Each night he’ll have at least one telescope out to view objects in the night sky. The events are totally informal and fun for all ages. Weather permitting, the dates are as follows:

  • August 17th (8:00pm)
  • Sept 14th (7:15pm)
  • Sept 17th (9:00pm)
